The Ring
- a Short Story

She heard the ring of a message come in – all turned towards the sound – her three teenage children and her crippled husband. He lay on the makeshift bed away from the leaking roof.
Was this gloom or further doom? She had already lost her job – her employer told her it is dangerous for all, if she ventures out to work. Monsters are around she thought, but the monster in her mind was even greater. Her eyes were blurred with tears as she approached the family smartphone. When she read the message – the monsters disintegrated like crushed glass and her tears, now flowing down, washed those virtual glass pieces away!
Her salary was deposited by her employer.
