Because You Can
- a Poem
- by Omnipen
They say wield a brush because you can,
And stroke your days away;
Bring to life what is and isn’t,
In a vision of tales on display.
They say sing freely because you can,
And have the voice of a bird’s call;
Be a bard for words unsaid,
In turn, for your melody, the world will fall.
They say, understand the ways of lifeforms because you can,
And have a view unlike, the rest;
Bring forward your novel insights,
With a mind that can give humanity the best.
They say build your own empire because you can,
And stoop your head to none;
Possess power unrivalled to watch,
Your principles become rules for everyone.
Now I say, do what you will because you can,
And never look back on the path you’ve set;
There are no choices which are wrong,
Only ones you can choose to regret.
