My Dearest Dad
- a Poem

I think of him every day
As the months have lingered by,
Since dad left us last April
It has been so hard to cry.
I recall the times he made me laugh
With that glimmering twinkle in his eye,
He touched my heart in a special way,
That it’s been impossible to say bye.
No one can possibly know,
The sorrow we have gone through.
And if he could be around,
He’ll be the first I’ll tell this to.
How do we look to the future?
When he has become the past
Memories of him, I will treasure
Till breath in me does last.
If dad was in our midst today,
He would be 96 years,
But now it is just another day
That leaves us with tears!
