We Are Women
- a Poem
- by Baishali Mandal
We are women, united we stand,
Demanding equality, hand in hand.
Tired of blame, tired of shame,
We claim our rights, and bear our name.
Why judged by looks, why denied the right?
To read, to know, to shine with all our might?
We’re not commodities, not objects to sell,
We’re women, hear us, and listen well.
Cooking’s not our sole role, nor silence our fate,
We rise above, and create our state.
Lynched by lawless mobs, accused of witchcraft’s might,
We stand strong, and shine with morning light.
Abusive men, forget your mothers’ strife,
We’re women, sisters, daughters, fighting for life.
Our voices stitched shut, but we won’t be tamed,
We’ll rise, we’ll shine, and claim our rightful name.
We are women, united we stand,
For equality, justice, and freedom’s hand.
We’ll break the mold, and shatter the glass,
And rise above, to our rightful pass.
