The Forest

There lies a forest people are too afraid to pass through
I can see an emptiness to which there is no end
I’ve heard the forest speak for itself
Like it wants to prove something
Something that hasn’t been already proven
But who cares to listen, as everyone is fearful
That it will devour them
Digest them with sadness
Absorb them with regret
All while I pen down this poem
I have succumbed to the wilderness of this forest
I won’t plead for mercy, as I am pensive
Is it really that dreadful?
To be around something you can’t see
Just darkness, a feeling of it
Till you realise that it was the roots you planted
That erected dense trees
And blocked the light
Until all the life died
And what remained was
Less than remaining.
