Ode to My Father

Today is Father’s Day and I miss you more,
No poem or essay can express or store
The heartaches for all that I can’t share,
As you are not anymore there.
Unique you were and will remain,
In my memory’s roads and by lanes.

Firm and stubborn in every way
You always did what you would say,
Till the end you stood your ground,
A firmer person I’ve not yet found!

Your cross – word and Sudoku game book,
Stand as a reminder for the interest you took,
Gaining some peace amidst the chaos
Of stress, sickness and painful loss –
Prayerful you were in a silent way,
Your deeds stood out as a loving bouquet!

You lived your life with simple grace,
How can I forget the smile on your face?
On this Father’s Day I thank God above,
For sending me my father – a precious gift of love.
