Departed

Life took a drastic turn
We couldn’t have predicted
We couldn’t have imagined
It happened all so suddenly.

It was years ago,
2007, if I’m not mistaken.
I remember him so dearly,
Him being there
Then gone in the gust of the wind.

Was just sitting one day talking
To a friend, when I had this flashback
Of him and I
On a cot, looking up at the sky.

I miss his presence
Things would be different I thought
If he was here today
Him with us,
and not just a memory.

May have shed a tear or two
This was years ago
But, I remember as it was yesterday
I was so lil, that I don’t know how.
Wish you were here today,
Maybe to see what we have become or just to be.

I miss you Dada!

As used in the composition, “Dada” is Grandfather in Hindi.

A true tribute to the memories of a grandfather, who is no longer there for his grandson, physically….. but is definitely omnipresent.
An honourable writer indeed of this generation, who has never failed to connect with each of his readers with his soul touching socially related contents, in each of his writings till now!!

Love for a Grandfather from his Grandson…..brought back old memories of Uncle.

Keep going Jethro and keep the philosophy and spirit of Ubuntu alive in this world…..All the very best.

Beautifully penned. Straight from the heart. Impressed and amazed. Keep going, Jethro. God bless you.

‘I am because you are’, how true, known almost universally but seldom given the importance as is reflected in this poem by a grandson missing his grandfather.

Missing of a loved one is very beautifully penned while also conveying the longing for Dada now also . The bonding between grandchildren n grandparents is soulfully expressed in that one second clear flash back out of the blue while sitting with a friend . Perhaps the same comfort zone with a friend n Dada was the common factor which triggered the memory ! Keep going Jethro !
