A Rainy Night

It was raining as if it would never stop.

She turned off the flickering bulb in the dining hall.

The night was perfect for the plan.

Her disloyal husband would ring the doorbell. She’d open it and ask him to wash up. He’d take 15 minutes – 5 minutes for freshening-up and 10 minutes for replying to the messages of his mistress. He’d come to the hall, which would be slippery with oil. He’d rush- as usual – slip and fall, bumping his head onto the ‘Best Wife’ trophy that he had given her on their 2nd anniversary and die on spot!

“Ding dong!” The doorbell rang.

A wicked smile filled her face.

Her drunk husband opened the door for his mistress.

The bulb flickered in sync with the thundering.

“It’s raining as if it would never stop”, he said, holding the blood stained ‘Best Wife’ trophy in his hands!
