Solitude
- a Poem

My solitude and I walked hand in hand, the horizon, a fiery pink,
I turned and asked what lay beyond, my solitude started to sink,
She smiled and vanished leaving behind a wicked wink.
Confused I shook my head, stunned, bewildered and aghast,
My solitude I thought would be with me through to the last.
Bemused I muscled through the cobwebs of my mind pretty fast,
Enlightened I realised, my solitude was but a quest,
In this pandemonious journey she was just a momentary guest.
I fretted and fumed,
I prayed, for I was doomed.
Solitude, I knew would safeguard my soul best,
But woebegone each desire loomed like a pest.
