Veil of Pain
- a Poem

No veil of ignorance can shield this pain,
No sanctuary from the relentless strain.
The truth lays bare, with nowhere to hide,
As we bear the burden of those who divide.
In the wake of a harrowing night,
Where brutal men deny our right,
There’s no refuge, no peace to claim,
In homes, on streets, or where we aim.
We dreamed of wings to soar and climb,
Yet our hopes are shattered by cruel crime.
For men who block the river’s flow,
Stifle dreams with relentless woe.
In a world where streams are forced to freeze,
Where dreams are stifled with ruthless ease,
We stand, though muted, strong and true,
In the quiet fight of me and you.
