I am afraid
If after a day or two,
I become something I hate today.
If my thoughts become corrupt
and I start to be a fiend.
I am afraid
If I’d fall into the dungeons
deep, dark and evil
of thoughts that are despicable
I am afraid
If the good ones
die the next morning
and the world is nothing but
thousands of voices
laughing their most wicked laughs
I am afraid
If my innocence and love fades away
unnoticed and unheard
they shatter silently
I am afraid
If I’d become something
I don’t like
I think I would better be dead
than what I dread.
