Maids in India
- a Poem
- by Popsie Ebenezer
A house maid is a blessing, no doubt about that
She wears on her head, many a hat
Be it using gadgets or arranging the vase
She aces it all at an alarming pace
When dinner guests arrive, the table’s all set
With dishes that everybody’s appetites, do whet
She cleans up the house and utensils too
Picks up on our whims, oh it’s so true
Let’s acknowledge this now and not keep her apart
Let’s give her a place inside our heart
She too may need to share joys and pain
Let’s listen to her, with nothing to gain
If she misses work, for a day or two
Let’s make sure we know what to do
To check if the reason is an ailing child
Or a drunken husband, behaving wild
Let’s tell her we appreciate her bettering our life
And help her too, in her miseries and strife!!
