Breathe Out
- a Short Story
- by Jade Lupin
Guns n’ Roses blazing into her headphones, she sat by the window and gazed outside. It was an unusually grey morning. Swaying to the motion of the bus, she grew increasingly aware of the dull ache inside.
She placed sunglasses over her reddening eyes as the last words kept coming back to her;
“It takes more than two good friends to make one good life”
Losing a part of yourself could be painful. But eventually if it doesn’t find its way back to you, it probably wasn’t even yours.
The grey sky was rumbling and a few big drops of rain had already fallen. She closed her eyes and leaned back. It was just the beginning of a new story. All she needed was a little time to grasp it.
The sky rumbled again. Only this time she didn’t notice.
“There’s a heaven above you baby,
Don’t you cry tonight”
