The Wealthy Indian
- a Poem
- by Kashyap
From long spiritual pilgrimages,
To the greatest architectural marvels;
From vivid cultures and traditions,
To the richest histories that startle;
Is there even one single thing,
That this country has not seen?
Talk of the Harappan Civilization,
Or of Aryabhatta’s contributions;
Talk of the various worship places,
Or of emperors in magnificent palaces.
Or should I mention the profuse artforms,
And the countless religions each with their norms?
The vibrant dances- classical or folk,
And the scrumptious food cooked in smoke;
Dozens of languages that the people speak,
And a festival celebrated every week.
Where do I start from,
And where do I end?
This list is endless,
And there’s so much to comprehend.
Such is India, such is my country;
With a powerful heritage never seen in history.
