I Want to be a Child Again

I wish I could be a child once more,
with romping feet and joy galore;
ditzy, listless and untamed,
throwing away caution to the wind.

I wish I could tread those paths,
of failed promises and broken hearts;
if only time could take a bend,
there are fences I’d like to mend.

What goes away, comes back to you,
if that indeed does hold true;
my childhood may come back, surprise!
with sugar and spice and everything nice!
