Masks Around
- a Poem

They say, the people around are fake,
Covering their faces behind different masks,
The smiles, the cries, the sympathy
Maintaining them well is a difficult task,
But if everyone has one,
Then better wear that smiley,
And forward the smiles to the ones you met today
They perhaps needed it more likely,
The old lady in the bus you meet daily
Look at her cold eyes today with your smiley,
Her wrinkled cheeks would glow up instantly
You see your mask is sliding down your face slowly,
And one day you wake up
To find the mask had gone,
And still the smiles hadn’t left
And realize what the smiley had borne.
